LPA Announces Behind the Stacks: Researching Your Historic Property Event
/LPA Members-Only Event at Spencer Research Library
LPA members are invited to visit Spencer Research Library and get a firsthand look at some of the collections and resources available there for historic property research. We'll see early property tax records, neighborhood government collections, and other materials, and learn how these resources can support the process of researching a historic property. The tour will be led by Phil Cunningham, Assistant Librarian and Kansas Collection Curator, and his team.
The goal is simple: give community members the tools and knowledge to start researching the history of their own homes and neighborhoods.
If you've ever wondered what it takes to get a property listed on the local, state, or national register of historic places, this event is a great place to start. We'll tour the facility and walk through what's available, though the event itself won't cover the nomination process step by step. It's about showing you what resources exist and how to access them, so you're equipped when you're ready to dig in.
