Meet at the SE corner of 12th and Connecticut
After a very successful Pinkney neighborhood tour last fall, our Lawrence Preservation Alliance and Lawrence Branch NAACP tour group returns to East Lawrence to re-stage our first tour (fall 2023) in this series!
This special tour through the neighborhood bordered by 12th and 14th Streets and Connecticut and Pennsylvania features three short history presentations in front of Lawrence Branch NAACP (1921) Founder Homes at 1325 Pennsylvania, 1333 New York and 1230 Connecticut. Along the way, tour leaders will share contextual insights into this historic neighborhood that housed a large population of Black residents in the 1920s.
Featured Lawrence Branch NAACP Founders: Doctor Frederick Harvey, John and Gertrude Clark, and Mr. Shirley Hamilton. This ten-block tour will begin at the SE corner of 12th and Connecticut and end at 1230 Connecticut. This is a great way to learn Lawrence history while associating important historic figures with neighborhood homes that still exist today!
Tickets: $10 per person.

Space is limited! We can accommodate 20 guests.
If you missed this tour the first time, or are just now becoming aware, please don’t pass up this special opportunity!
